Shadowmoon Valley is a zone located in the South-eastern portion of Draenor. This zone is enveloped in perpetual night, with one of the moons of Draenor, the Pale Lady, serving as the valley's primary source of light during the day. Shadowmoon is one of the key centers of draenei civilization on the world of Draenor, its heart being the sacred temple of Karabor. Lately, the Iron Horde began advancing on the draenei settlements through the Shadowmoon clan and naval attacks targeting Karabor itself.

When Draenor shattered and became Outland, Shadowmoon Valley, the place where Gul'Dan himself uttered the incantations that led to the shattering, became corrupted and almost inhospitable in Outland, but did not lose its name: Shadowmoon Valley.
