The Hydraxian Waterlords are elementals that have made their home on the islands east of Azshara. Sworn enemies of the armies of Ragnaros. Historically servants of the Old Gods, the four Elemental Lords served the gods with undying loyalty. It is not yet known how Duke Hydraxis broke free of his lord's control (if indeed he has), or what is his ultimate goals are, but the Water elementals are the only elementals that are not hostile to players.

Located on a remote island in the far east of Azshara, Duke Hydraxis offered some quests. The first two require killing various elementals in Eastern Plaguelands and Silithus. Increased faction with the Waterlords opens up additional quests leading into the Molten Core. Any items obtained from the Hydraxian Waterlords, are obtained from its various quests.

In the past, completing the questline allowed players to obtain Aqual Quintessence used to douse the runes found near most bosses in Molten Core. This is required to summon Majordomo Executus, the penultimate boss, and, after his defeat, to summon Ragnaros himself. This questline is now removed.

Reputation

Reputation is gained through slaying the following elemental enemies of the waterlords.

• Desert Rumbler - 5 reputation, lasts until honored.
• Dust Stormer - 5 reputation, lasts until honored.
• Greater Obsidian Elemental - 5 reputation, lasts until honored.
• Lord Incendius - 15 reputation, lasts until revered.
• Huricanian - 25 reputation, lasts until revered.
• Pyroguard Emberseer - 50 reputation, lasts until revered.
• Molten Giant, Ancient Core Hound, Lava Surger and Firelord - 20 reputation, lasts until revered.
• Molten Destroyer and Lava Pack (Lava Reaver, Lava Elemental, Flameguard, Firewalker) - 40 reputation, lasts until revered.
• Lucifron, Magmadar, Gehennas, Garr, Baron Geddon, Shazzrah, Sulfuron Harbinger - 100 reputation, lasts until exalted.
• Golemagg the Incinerator - 150 reputation, lasts until the end of exalted.
• Ragnaros - 200 reputation, lasts until the end of exalted.

Due to only bosses giving reputation at Revered, this is still a long reputation grind even at 90.

Reaching revered status with the Hydraxian Waterlords allowed players to obtain the Eternal Quintessence, which replenishes itself and thus eliminates the need to return to Hydraxis to obtain a new quintessence every week. As that has been removed for quite some time, players with the old item were granted the Feat of Strength The Fifth Element.
